Metallica will release their next single, ‘If Darkness Had A Son’
Metallica, the iconic heavy metal band, has extended an invitation to their fans on TikTok to duet with them on a new track from their upcoming album ’72 Seasons’. The band members, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Rob Trujillo, and Kirk Hammett, shared a clip of themselves rocking out to the tune on Tuesday (28.02.23), with the caption “#duet with @metallica #IfDarknessHadASon out tomorrow. #72seasons #metallica #duetchain (sic)”.
The new track, “If Darkness Had a Son”, follows the previously released songs “Lux Æterna” and “Screaming Suicide”. The full album is set to be released on April 14th.
In the meantime, Metallica’s latest ‘Helping Hands’ benefit event has raised an impressive $3 million (£2.4 million) for charity. The band brought out St. Vincent and had Greta Van Fleet perform at the fundraising event for their All Within My Hands non-profit at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on December 16.
The funds raised from the ‘Helping Hands Concert and Auction’ will go towards the Metallica Scholars initiative, combating hunger, and aiding in response to natural disasters. Among the organizations to benefit from the money raised will be Baby2Baby, First Star, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, mikeroweWorks Foundation, and The Skatepark Project.
Metallica’s star-studded 2021 covers album ‘The Metallica Blacklist’ made an incredible $1 million (£824,430). Collaborators on the album, including Miley Cyrus, Phoebe Bridgers, and Chris Stapleton, have chosen non-profits to donate the money to. Miley chose her Happy Hippie Foundation, Phoebe opted for RAINN, and Chris and his wife Morgane picked their Outlaw State Of Kind fund, which benefits “a variety of causes close to their heart.”
Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation previously donated $100,000 to those affected by California’s devastating wildfires in 2018, demonstrating their continued commitment to giving back to those in need.
