Sources have reported that Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones are collaborating on a new album. According to Variety, McCartney has recorded bass parts for the project, which is being produced by Grammy-winner Andrew Watt. Ringo Starr, McCartney’s former bandmate in the Beatles, has also been reportedly recruited to play on the album.

McCartney recorded his parts for the album in Los Angeles over the past few weeks, and production is now nearing the mixing phase. It’s uncertain whether McCartney and Starr will appear on the same track or if the songs they worked on will make the final cut.

The Rolling Stones have hinted that they are working on a new album, with frontman Mick Jagger telling the Los Angeles Times in 2021 that the band had “a lot of tracks done”. Keith Richards, the band’s guitarist, also reassured fans in a recent Instagram post that “there’s some new music on its way”. However, the album’s title and release date have not been announced.

The Beatles and the Rolling Stones have a long history together, with the Stones covering a Lennon-McCartney song, “I Wanna Be Your Man”, and the Beatles singing backup vocals on the Stones’ “We Love You”. The two bands even paid tribute to each other on their 1967 albums, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Their Satanic Majesties Request.
